Berlin Survivor

This remarkable motorcycle has an interesting history being one of the most original 101 scouts in existence.  Purchased new from the Springfield Massachusetts factory in 1930 it came to Berlin as an import (see KPH speedo and import stamps on toolbox).  The owner who was of Jewish religion, decided to leave Germany when the Nazi party came to power in 1933 and put his motorcycle into the heating cellar of his house and bricked it up, leaving to return in 1990 when the Berlin Wall came down uniting East and West.  His house had been demolished by the Russian invasion and after the war an apartment block was built on the site.  In the spirit of reunification permission was given to look for the heating cellar and the bike, along with other possessions, was found.  Apart from tyres, wiring and the headlight surround this “time machine” is as found.  The engine and gearbox have never been opened.  It is used often with great enjoyment and never misses a beat.  This machine is a true survivor
